Wimps Want Comfort but God Calls for Courage

When God puts something on our heart it takes courage to do it. We have to overcome the oppression of the ordinary. It’s easier to do what we’ve always done you so we tend to hesitate and procrastinate because it takes courage to change. But there’s no peace in procrastination and obedience isn’t just doing what we wish, but God’s will. God’s leading's often bring butterflies and seem bigger than Broadway. And the more we procrastinate the greater the pressure, because we know that we have a part in God’s production but we’re not prepared. Then we have the horror of hurrying and trying to memorize “our lines” at the last moment. First the fear of failure tries to hold us back and then seems determined to drive us when we fall behind. It’s a vicious cycle caused by cowardice. So if we don’t want to be weenies we must be bold and will that we will fulfill God’s will and when He wills. “The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Wimps want comfort but God calls for courage. And “taking up your cross” is never comfortable, but it’s a lot better then living in condemnation caused by cowardice. We can either be like Linus, theological and quoting the Gospel’s while holding onto our “trusty blanket” and sucking our thumb or we can lay it down, get out of our comfort zone and find the greater joy of carrying the cross of Christ.

From: A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)

Lucy Van Pelt: Linus, you've got to get rid of that stupid blanket, and here, memorize these lines.
Linus Van Pelt: I can't memorize these lines. This is ridiculous.
Lucy Van Pelt: Memorize it and be ready to recite when your cue comes.
Linus Van Pelt: I can't memorize something like this so quickly. Why should I be put through such agony? Give me one good reason why I should memorize this.
Lucy Van Pelt: I'll give you five good reasons.
[proceeds to make a fist out of her fingers]
Lucy Van Pelt: One, two, three, four, FIVE!
Linus Van Pelt: [begins shaking his head emphatically] Those are good reasons. Christmas is not only getting too commercial, it's getting too dangerous.
Lucy Van Pelt: And get rid of that stupid blanket! What's a Christmas shepherd gonna look like holding a stupid blanket like that?
Linus Van Pelt: Well, this is one Christmas shepherd who's going to keep his trusty blanket with him.
[Lucy raises her fist to strike Linus; Linus puts his blanket over his head like a headdress]
Linus Van Pelt: See? You wouldn't hurt an innocent shepherd, would you? …

Later…
Lucy Van Pelt: You think you're so smart with that blanket. What are you going to do with it when you grow up?
Linus Van Pelt: Maybe I'll make it into a sport coat.

Matt 16:24-27
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.

Josh 1:9
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Ps 31:24
24 Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the Lord.

Matt 14:27-29
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."

28 "Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."

29 "Come," he said.

Get to the Point

Sharpen your skills and get to the point. Be kind by being concise because wasting people’s time just isn’t nice.

Eccl 10:10
If the ax is dull,
And one does not sharpen the edge,
Then he must use more strength;
But wisdom brings success.

Eccl 5:3
And a fool's voice is known by his many words.

Worry Worms

Be of good cheer and resist the temptation to fear. Anxiety seems to come suddenly, like a sneak attack of a demented little monkey jumping on your back. It wants to grab onto your head, and its parasite spread. Worry worms come out its mouth and try to get in your ear to chew on your brain to drive you insane. They’ll slither into your eyes and your mouth, and then slowly descend to your stomach down south. If you let it in it will feed on your life and make you inclined to failure and strife. So beware because fear is borne on the backs of media monkeys, comes out the mouth of mischievous men and can even be sown by “well meaning” friends.

Be on guard and vigilant to keep fear away, resist with the truth of God’s Word everyday. Don’t turn your back on it but face it and resist it in faith. Because if you don’t you’ll get worry worms! And if you’ve already got em it’s time to get rid of em. So cast all your fear down and tell it to get out a town, it’s not a barrel of monkeys so don’t play around.

2 Tim 1:6-7
6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
NKJV

2 Tim 1:7
7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.

Pray on the Way

Sometimes you just have to get up and go early - when you do pray on the way and endeavor to be aware of God’s presence all guidance all day.

John 11:41-42
And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me…

Do Something not Everything

You can’t do everything but you can do something. You can do whatever God leads you to no matter how impossible it may seem to you. Because you “can do all things through Christ who strengthens you” and “all things” is “everything God asks you to” not just whatever you want to do. Why would God strengthen you to do something that’s it’s not His will for you? But He has specifically gifted you and will empower you to do the good things that He’s ordained for you. So the question is, what do you believe God is telling you and leading you to do and when will you do it? And what are you trying to do that’s draining the life out of you because God hasn’t really told you to and when will you stop? That’s why it’s important to pray everyday and discern God’s way, because you can’t do everything but you can do something.

Phil 4:13
13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
NKJV

Phil 4:13
13 for I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who gives me the strength and power.

Jer 33:3
3 'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'

Eph 2:10
10 For we are God's [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

Are You True?

Be true to God and true to you, muster your mettle and do what you really wanna do! It doesn’t matter if it makes you money or not. But if you will be bold and work doing something you want then you will be wealthy. Rich in the fulfillment that comes from a heart that’s full and active in doing what it was created to do. You have to decide to do what you really want to do no matter how much it costs. Most people are looking for dreams that pay, but the reality is that you will have to pay for your dream. You will have to support it before it supports you and it may never support you financially, but you still must fulfill your divine desire. If you don’t to won’t be happy because you were created to be creative and made to express yourself. And the reason that many people never seem to see their dreams come to pass is because they are unwilling to pay and “waiting for their ship to come in.” Because it’s easier to wait then to build a boat, but God didn’t send Noah a Luxury Liner but instead put the plans in his head and heart for an ark. And that’s how dreams manifest, we pray and pay day by day, and one step at a time we build and bring forth the vision that God has put in our heart. And God gave you the dream so your heart would be full and not just your account. I would rather have a full heart and an empty bank account than a full account and an empty heart. And until we’re willing to give our all we will never see the fullness of the gift we’ve been given. It’s not about the money! Or getting paid to give the gift God has given. It’s His gift within us, it was made to give therefore we have to give it. We will have to pay and spend our own time to discover and develop it. And then when we write or dance or sing we do it because we must express and bless. We paint or preach or teach because we must give and get out the art that’s on our heart. We serve and give and begin to live the life we’ve been created to live. Today’s the day to begin to do what you’ve always wanted to do. Then tomorrow and the next day and the next continue to step up and step out until you’re in step with the Almighty. And on fire with desire when you’re true to God and true to you and true to do what you really wanna do.

So what’s “your thing”? What is it that you would do if you could do anything? DO IT!

Phil 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
NKJV

1 Peter 4:10-11
10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

SO – GO!

Don't get so bust trying to be "good" that you neglect to preach the gospel. Mt 9:9-13, 22:8-10

There’s more joy in heaven over one “bad” person who repents than over ninety-nine “good” people perfect in their praises. Lu 15:7

SO get your eyes off yourself and onto God and GO into all the world and preach the gospel!

Rom 10:14-15
14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

"How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!"

Recant your “I CAN’T!”

The Bible’s not a “no” book but a “go” book. It doesn’t tell you what you can’t do but what you can. You can do whatever you want to, because you’ve been given free will. The Bible does tell you what you shouldn’t do because God loves you and those things will kill you. But it’s not focused on what’s wrong but what’s right and with the One who’s right and came to make us righteous. We’ve been made right with God through faith in and acceptance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. And now that we’re right why would we want to focus on what’s wrong all day long? And go around crying like we’re dying and praying and sayin, “I CAN’T do this and I CAN’T do that!” Waaa! Get over it. Recant your “I CAN’T”. See how weak and ugly it looks? You no longer do what’s wrong because you “CAN’T”, because you can, but now you don’t do what you don’t do because you don’t want to. Don’t focus on what you don’t want to do! I know that sounds stupid and simple but many Christians have been studying sin for years and remain miserable. It’s called “sin consciousness” and it’s spending time studying, focusing on and getting into exactly what Jesus came to get us out of.

Now that you’re saved through faith in Christ you’re a new creation. The old is gone and you have a new nature. Now you CAN DO all things through Christ who strengthens you! You’re not focused on what’s wrong but what’s right and not on who’s wrong but the One who is right. The same One who also made you righteous! And now that you are, you do what’s right because that’s just how and who you are. Nobody likes to be wrong but everybody likes to be right. So don’t give attention to sin but salvation, and focus on what YOU CAN DO because that’s your vocation!

Phil 4:13
13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
NKJV

Mark 16:15-20
15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.
NKJV

Matt 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
NKJV

2 Cor 5:17-21
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
NKJV

Rom 3:21-26
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
NKJV

Rom 4:1-8
4 What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." 4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.

5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:

7 "Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin."
NKJV

Rom 4:20-5:11
20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore "it was accounted to him for righteousness."

23 Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24 but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.

5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
NKJV

Rom 5:17-21
17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.

20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
NKJV

Rom 8:1-7
8 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
NKJV

Heb 10:1-7
10 For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. 2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. 3 But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.

5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said:

"Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,
But a body You have prepared for Me.
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin
You had no pleasure.
7 Then I said, 'Behold, I have come —
In the volume of the book it is written of Me —
To do Your will, O God.'"

8 Previously saying, "Sacrifice and offering, burnt offerings, and offerings for sin You did not desire, nor had pleasure in them"(which are offered according to the law), 9 then He said, "Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God." He takes away the first that He may establish the second. 10 By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

15 But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,

16 "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them," 17 then He adds, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." 18 Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

“Follow Me!”

With all the choices of voices these days who do you “follow”? Some still stick with the news while others have found Facebook, bloggers and Twitters tweets. Friends, celebrities, ministries and the media all have something to say. Some scare for entertainment, a few try to sell and others are content to just worship themselves. “The 8th Habit” that’s lauded to take people from effectiveness to greatness “is to find our own voice and inspire others to find theirs.” by Stephen Covey. And apparently there’s a multitude seeking and speaking. But not all voices are good and “following” has become a casual thing that we do without much thought or commitment. We’re not really following but merely observing to see if we like what they say, if we do then, “Yay!” we’ve been entertained, and if not we just write them off and go on our way. We tend to get all wrapped up in our own lives, then when hear the True Shepherd speak our following is weak. An easygoing attitude gives us the latitude to hesitate and be sedate. And then we don’t end up great because the abundant life is the result of following the Shepherds voice. There are many “strange voices” and that’s what the thief uses to steal, kill and destroy. But when Jesus said, “Follow Me!” He wasn’t talking about a casual stroll for our own amusement. We are called to observe, imitate and obey His way. We are empowered as we listen, pray and meditate on His Words everyday. He said, “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63) It’s by faith in His Word alone that we posses the promise of “life more abundantly” and by obedience to His voice that we may prolong our days in the land of praise! There are many voices to “follow” so who’s it gonna be? There’s only One who is Almighty and He said, “FOLLOW ME!”

John 10:1-10
10 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers." 6 Jesus used this illustration, but they did not understand the things which He spoke to them.

7 Then Jesus said to them again, "Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
NKJV

John 10:27-28
27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
NKJV

Eph 5:1-2
5 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
NKJV

Deut 30:14
14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.
NKJV

Deut 30:19-20
19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20 that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."
NKJV

Deut 32:45-47
45 Moses finished speaking all these words to all Israel, 46 and he said to them:"Set your hearts on all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to be careful to observe — all the words of this law. 47 For it is not a futile thing for you, because it is your life, and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess."
NKJV

Matt 4:18-20
18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." 20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
NKJV

Matt 8:18-22
18 And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. 19 Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, "Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go."

20 And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."

21 Then another of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father."

22 But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead."
NKJV

Luke 9:57-62
57 Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, "Lord, I will follow You wherever You go."

58 And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."

59 Then He said to another, "Follow Me."

But he said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father."

60 Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God."

61 And another also said, "Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house."

62 But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."
NKJV

Matt 9:9-13
9 As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, "Follow Me." So he arose and followed Him.

10 Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, "Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?"

12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."
NKJV

Matt 16:24-27
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.
NKJV

John 21:17-22
Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep. 18 Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish." 19 This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."

20 Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?" 21 Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, "But Lord, what about this man?"

22 Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me."
NKJV

John 12:26
26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.

“Feed My Sheep!”

I need something relevant for the day, what inspires my heart, what makes me pray?

I will feed His sheep the Living Word buffet,

“Seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away”

Bind up the broken and find the stray,

Minister to the weak, God’s strength convey,

Heal the sick, without delay,

He said, “Shepherd the Flock!” I will obey.

Churches, pastors and the people in them are called to do these things. What’s your part?

Ezek 34:4-6
4 The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and cruelty you have ruled them. 5 So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. 6 My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them."
NKJV

Ezek 34:11-16
11 'For thus says the Lord God: "Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day. 13 And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land; I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys and in all the inhabited places of the country. 14 I will feed them in good pasture, and their fold shall be on the high mountains of Israel. There they shall lie down in a good fold and feed in rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. 15 I will feed My flock, and I will make them lie down," says the Lord God. 16 "I will seek what was lost and bring back what was driven away, bind up the broken and strengthen what was sick; but I will destroy the fat and the strong, and feed them in judgment."
NKJV

Luke 19:10
10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
NKJV

Jer 23:3-4
3 "But I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 4 I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking," says the Lord.
NKJV

Luke 4:18-19
18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
NKJV

Matt 9:35-10:2
35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."
NKJV

Jer 3:15
15 And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

What, Instructions?

I’m putting together this playhouse for some friends and it came in hundreds of pieces. Josh and I have been working on it in our spare time for the last five days and enjoying it enough except the hard part, which is that we actually have to follow the instructions. There are so many different kinds and sizes of boards and fasteners that you have to read and do each step exactly, otherwise everything won’t work out and especially in the end. We’re currently on step 85 and have 18 more to go.

This made me think about our steps of faith. I know the Bible says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord” but I hadn’t considered that there’s detailed instructions for every step. I’m more inclined to “wing it” and improvise and hope everything turns out all right. The problem is that when you skip steps or do the wrong thing in the wrong place at the wrong time you end up with a mess and have to go back and correct it. It would be better to wait and study until you understand the direction than to just go ahead. You can’t skip steps because every step has a purpose and contributes to God’s desired end. That’s why it’s so important to pray and obey everyday. Because even though God orders our steps we still have to follow the instructions.

Ps 37:23
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.
NKJV

Ps 32:8-9
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.
NKJV

Isa 48:17-18
17 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,
The Holy One of Israel:
"I am the Lord your God,
Who teaches you to profit,
Who leads you by the way you should go.
18 Oh, that you had heeded My commandments!
Then your peace would have been like a river,
And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
NKJV

Isa 1:19-20
9 If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land;
20 But if you refuse and rebel,
You shall be devoured by the sword";
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

Jubilee!

When feeling tired and uninspired you gotta go with what you know.

What you don’t know won’t help you and what you can’t do won’t get you through.

So what do you know, what can you do, do you remember what God said to you?

You don’t need something new, but to renew and pursue what you already know is true.

It’s the truth you know and do, which will set you free; you have God’s Word – His guarantee.

So stir yourself by His decree, until your heart and mind agree and begin to see His Jubilee.

John 8:31-32
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
NKJV

James 1:22-25
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
NKJV

Luke 4:18-19
18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon Me, because He has anointed Me [the Anointed One, the Messiah] to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity],

19 To proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.] [Isa 61:1,2.]

SEED …. TIME … & HARVEST

“…he that believeth shall not make haste.” Isa 28:16 KJV

This is one of my least favorite scriptures because I want what I want and I want it now!

God said He would meet my need, but when I ask, “how”, He said, “plant a seed.”
But I don’t want a seed, just the fruit, but I’ll never get it without the root.
To get the root established, I have to plow the dirt, and I want a harvest without the hurt.
Even when harvest comes, it takes work to reap it, and without consistent effort I can not keep it.

That’s just the way it is, it is God’s way, things grow and increase day by day.
I must accept that I’m not the exception and stop trying to reap without conception.

Mark 4:26-32
26 And He said, "The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, 27 and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. 28 For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. 29 But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come."

30 Then He said, "To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? 31 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; 32 but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade."
NKJV

Luke 8:9-15
9 Then His disciples asked Him, saying, "What does this parable mean?"

10 And He said, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that

'Seeing they may not see,
And hearing they may not understand.'

11 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.
NKJV

Gen 8:22
22 "While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat,
Winter and summer,
And day and night
Shall not cease."

Make it Good!

If you do something negligent and it effects someone else then you should “make it good.” If you borrow something and harm it while you have it then you should “make it good.” And if you give your word, then surely you should “make it good.” It will always cost you something to do what you should and “make it good” but never more than the value of your integrity.

Ex 21:33-34
33 "And if a man opens a pit, or if a man digs a pit and does not cover it, and an ox or a donkey falls in it, 34 the owner of the pit shall make it good; he shall give money to their owner, but the dead animal shall be his.
NKJV

Ex 22:14-15
14 "And if a man borrows anything from his neighbor, and it becomes injured or dies, the owner of it not being with it, he shall surely make it good. 15 If its owner was with it, he shall not make it good; if it was hired, it came for its hire.
NKJV

Num 23:19
19 "God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Let Your Hair Down

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:24

That scripture is challenging and makes me wonder, what is true worship? Apparently we can either worship in spirit and in truth or just be going through the motions on the mountains and be false and in the flesh. The woman at the well was more concerned with where to worship than Who to worship. Someone had said, “this is where and how to worship” but another contended, “No, not there but over here, and here’s how!” They were more focused on works than on worship, and on how than on Whom. There was a lot of lip service, but of all the instructors to God none really knew God. They were worshiping what they did know, independent of God, keeping the commandments of men and calling it correct. But Jesus said "These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men" All their vigor was in vain because God said, “I don’t just want your head but your heart. I know and love you, and want you to know and love Me too. And when you do, then you’ll know how to act because I’ll be one with you. I simply want to be the object and fire of your desire.”

When your worship is honest and true between God and just you, and He is the object of your ultimate affection, then you will get to “know Him”, your worship will be wonderful and no man will be able to pervert you passion.

John 4:19-26
19 The woman said to Him, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship."

21 Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

25 The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When He comes, He will tell us all things."

26 Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am He."
NKJV

Acts 17:22-24
22 Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, "Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious; 23 for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription:

TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.

Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:
NKJV

Matt 15:8-9

And honor Me with their lips,

NKJV

Heb 8:11-12

1 John 5:20
20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
NKJV

Luke 7:36-50
36 Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee's house, and sat down to eat. 37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, 38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying,"This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner."

40 And Jesus answered and said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you."

So he said, "Teacher, say it."

41 "There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?"

43 Simon answered and said, "I suppose the one whom he forgave more."

And He said to him, "You have rightly judged." 44 Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head. 45 You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in. 46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil. 47 Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."

48 Then He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."

49 And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?"

50 Then He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

Rebel against Hell and Stupid People Religion

The ways of Hell are primarily selfish and stupid people religion tells you just how to think and what to believe, as if you couldn’t figure it out for yourself. Both selfishness and stupidity produce mindless zombies seeking some sort of gratification. One has to be bad to feel good and the other tries to be good to feel good but it’s like two sides of the same coin. The problem is focus on self and always looking for someone or something that can make ME feel better. It’s “I” disease and almost everyone has it to some degree. The greater the focus on “I” the bigger grows the disease and the harder to please. It’s been known to completely consume people promising someday satisfaction while all the while sucking out their life like a leech. Waiting for better days, now days are wasted and it’s like preparing a meal and leaving it un-tasted. It leaves lots of leftovers and residue of regret so why not enjoy life today if you haven’t started yet? Because always seeking and never finding is bore some and tiring. Quit looking for something to make your life “better” and enjoy the life you’re now living, quit trying to gratify your “good” or “bad” self and practice thanks giving. Don’t cry for what you don’t have but rejoice in what you do, get your focus on God and others and not always just YOU!

Matt 22:37-40
37 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'

Snoozing and Losing

Snoozing causes losing, literally. Time and good intentions are wasted while waiting to get up. How many hate it and yet still seem to struggle? It doesn’t matter for what time we set the alarm the warm cozy bed has a charm that keeps lulling us back to sleep. We’ve been charmed into complacency by comfort – yuk! If we hadn’t intended to get up at that early we wouldn’t have set our alarm for that hour. And we can say “I’m not a morning person” but any excuse or abuse of excessive snoozing - morning person or not just shows that our convictions to God and our goals are weak while we’re sleeping. I know it sounds funny but the results are not when we snooze one of the most productive times of day away. Then it’s no wonder we lack when our morning is slack we’ve lost hours of provision and can’t get em back. How many people have decided to do something but failed because snoozing prevailed? And sleep is valuable and necessary and helps us be strong but snoozing is not sleeping it’s just wasting time commitments not keeping. And when we don’t keep our commitments to ourselves starting with the simple one to get up “on time” the time which we ourselves set then our dreams go un-met. When we don’t pay our own price we end up in personal debt and filled with regret. We owe it to ourselves to follow through with what we’ve decided to do. It all starts in the morning, the alarm your first warning, snoozers will be losers and early beginners the winners.

Prov 6:9-11
9 How long will you slumber, O sluggard?
When will you rise from your sleep?
10 A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to sleep —
11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler,
And your need like an armed man.
NKJV

Prov 6:6-11
6 You lazy fool, look at an ant.
Watch it closely; let it teach you a thing or two.
7 Nobody has to tell it what to do.
8 All summer it stores up food;
at harvest it stockpiles provisions.
9 So how long are you going to laze around doing nothing?
How long before you get out of bed?
10 A nap here, a nap there, a day off here, a day off there,
sit back, take it easy — do you know what comes next?
11 Just this: You can look forward to a dirt-poor life,
poverty your permanent houseguest!

You Go, I Show

Not Feeling Inspired?

That’s okay just pray and say, “God help me know and do your will today” then go on your way.

If you just sit there it’s nothing new, you’re uninspired by the same old view - you think you’re waiting for God but He’s waiting for you.

The grace won’t come until you go and if you don’t get started you’ll never know.

So take some steps and then you’ll see the things that lie ahead for thee.

Acts 9:6
6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, "Lord, what do You want me to do?"

Then the Lord said to him, "Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."
NKJV

Gen 12:1-3
12 Now the Lord had said to Abram:

"Get out of your country,
From your family
And from your father's house,
To a land that I will show you.
2 I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."

4 So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him…

Have You Asked for Your Allowance?

I was having a dream and in it I was talking to a simple man with some needs and he said, “My God said to me, ‘My allowances allow ye to ask it of Me.’”

I Jn 5:14-15
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

Phil 4:19-20
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Matt 21:22
22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
NKJV

Mark 11:24
24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
NKJVKJV

If you can believe it then you can receive it. And if He’s given you His Word on it then surely you can believe it. So ask because, “My God said to me, ‘My allowances allow ye to ask it of Me!’”

Rejoice, Resist and Persist

Our present freedom has been provided by previous battles. So it stands to reason that our present battles are providing future freedom. Don’t sap your strength by despising what you’re dealing and focusing on fear or failure. It’s easier to endure the pain if you believe the pressure is producing something. The sowing of blood, sweat and tears but it will bring forth a harvest with cheers. So rejoice in the challenge, resist the resistance, muster your mettle and persist in persistence.

Rom 8:18
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
NKJV

2 Cor 4:17-18
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
NKJV

James 1:2-4
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
NKJV

Rom 5:1-5
5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
NKJV

Psalm 30
1 I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up,
And have not let my foes rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried out to You,
And You healed me.
3 O Lord, You brought my soul up from the grave;
You have kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

4 Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.
5 For His anger is but for a moment,
His favor is for life;
Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.

6 Now in my prosperity I said,
"I shall never be moved."
7 Lord, by Your favor You have made my mountain stand strong;
You hid Your face, and I was troubled.

8 I cried out to You, O Lord;
And to the Lord I made supplication:
9 "What profit is there in my blood,
When I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise You?
Will it declare Your truth?
10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me;
Lord, be my helper!"

11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
