I had an undercurrent of fear
down in my gut,
Eating away at my heart and
making big ruts,
I seemed stuck at this place in
the muck in my mind,
But then I decided I needed - to leave
it behind.
It wasn’t that easy for I was
overwrought,
I had to latch onto hope, and get
ahold of my thoughts,
I needed some help so I cried out
to the Lord,
But then I still felt - like I
was being ignored.
I couldn’t give in, I had to get
up!
So I went back to the Word and
filled up my cup,
He said not to worry and to be of
good cheer,
So I wrung out the doubt and cast
out the fear.
It will try to come back, it will
pry to get in,
But with courage I’ll resist it -
again and again,
It takes effort to stay on the
high and the dry,
And not slide back into - the
lows and the lies.
I’ll let not my heart be
troubled, nor let it be afraid,
I have the peace of the Lord, so
I won’t be dismayed,
I’ll take courage and believe that
His Word is true,
Because what choice do I have, and
what else can I do?
The Lord’s on my side, I will not
fear!

of good cheer!
