Ages & Eternity

My times and seasons are in Your Hand,
My now my future, each grain of sand,
The course of my life upon the sea,
And in my heart - eternity.

So I’ll eat and drink, and enjoy the good in all my labor,
This is the gift of God, and my life to savor.

To everything there is a time and a season. Life is like the ocean and living through cycles of it is like riding the waves of the sea. On the surface there are always ups and downs like the building and breaking of the waves. But in the depths there is certain stability, and likewise God has set eternity in the hearts of men. We live by faith in this environment that is always changing and yet remains the same. If we will learn to accept the cycles and seasons, and ups and downs then we will be better equipped to enjoy life and to go with the flow. And when you know that your times are in God’s Hands then you can trust that He has already made a plan to take care of you. And so He will, and so shall you rejoice and enjoy the journey. Don’t worry about the wind and the waves, He is the Master of them all. And they also add to our lives a good bit of excitement and entertainment. It’s going to be a journey over land and sea but fortunately it’s not flat for you and me. Don’t resist it, experience it - the ups and the downs, the smiles and frowns, the cheers and the tears. Because all of this contrast is what makes life so beautiful and turns ordinary days into grand adventures.

Eccl 2:24-3:13
24 Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God. 25 For who can eat, or who can have enjoyment, more than I?   26 For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

1 To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

2 A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
3 A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
4 A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
7 A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
8 A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

9 What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? 10 I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

12 I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, 13 and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor — it is the gift of God.
NKJV

Rom 15:13
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Time Is Not My Master

I will not be compelled by time but propelled by Love. I hate feeling restless and disturbed and driven because I feel like I have DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH TIME! Pushed to scurry and hurry and worry, to do more, to do better, and to DO IT ALL - FASTER! I hear the voice of the clock like a specter, “tick tock, tick-tock,” and its ghost hovers over me, analyzing my moments, holding a prod, and eagerly waiting to strike. It wants to haunt my mind and terrify my heart. It intends to possess me and make itself my master.

But NO! I say, you won’t ruin my day! I DO HAVE TIME and I am its master. I will do what I need to do and will not be haunted or driven by you. Time is mine and here to serve me and so I will “make it so.”
I will do what matters most and let my life be governed by the compass and not the clock. The compass represents my true values and is not subject to time. For me true Love is true North, and everything else is subject to it. And God is the Spirit and the Spirit is Love, and He said to “follow me.” And so I will walk in the Spirit and live in Love! But I must make the decision and stick to it, because time and fear will keep trying to crowd in and take over. But I will resist them and continue to follow my Master and trust Him to make the most of MY TIME!

I HAVE TIME, and I use it wisely.

I have peace, I know what to do and so I go with the flow.

And I don’t believe that it’s meant to be difficult but natural. So I will not be subject to the stress of time, but I will follow the Spirit and trust Him to do what’s best with the rest.

Time is slow and not my master so I’ll flow in the Spirit because it’s faster.

It’s the flesh that’s concerned about time and not the spirit, so consider this.

Rom 8:5-7
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
NKJV

Rom 8:14-15
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
NKJV

Ps 32:8-9
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.
NKJV

Col 3:14-17
14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
NKJV

Phil 4:6-7
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
NKJV

Isa 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
NKJV

Phil 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
NKJV

Eph 6:10-11
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
NKJV

Eph 3:16-17
…be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
NKJV

1 John 4:12-16
12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

The Other

It’s intriguing to consider what lies beyond the natural realm of things. To explore and discover “the other.” I can’t really encompass it with name, for a name is just a natural thing, but I know that it goes beyond the realm of names and of things. And to go “there” may be dangerous, but somehow I just feel drawn. But I don’t know where I am going or into what because it lies beyond all of that. But what I do know is that I must go, and that I don’t want to go on or out or into another realm without a guide. And so that why I believe I have received the Spirit of God, and that the predominant and true guiding “force” in that “realm” is Love. And there’s surely a lot more to say about “this” but considering that consider this…

Eph 3:14-19
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,   15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height —  19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
NKJV

Surely I know I need Another if I going to go into “the Other.”
