Living by Lust, Luck or Loyalty?

Living by lust is being driven by your desires. It’s when you do what you do just to get what you want. Morals aren’t the main concern but what matters to you is if it makes you happy. The problem with lust is that it causes corruption. And corruption kills or at the very least alienates you form the good people in your life and kills you later after its done it’s maximum damage. Lust is not just lust for flesh but the lust of the flesh. The lust could be for sex but it could also be for food, money, recognition, position, success, possessions, drugs… etc. Lust tries to fill the place of love but no matter how much you try you still feel empty so you go on overindulging until you make yourself sick and in more ways than one. Lust is the lifestyle of the weak and spineless scoundrel.

Living by luck is setting your hope on chance. The problem is statistics say that the deck is stacked against you. This is how casinos and also the enemy of your soul stay in business. When you’re living by luck you will make stupid decisions hoping for a “miracle” with no basis for belief. But when you win it’s really no miracle at all just one of your wins that goes with the stack of your losses. You will lose way more often than you will win and wonder why God doesn’t change your luck. You’ll end up deluded and disappointed because your hope set in chance and circumstance is fragile that it will end up being shattered. God’s not God of luck like a leprechaun or something and there’s still no pot-o-gold at the end of the rainbow.

Living by loyalty is when you base your beliefs on the character of someone who is true. God is faithful, ever true and loyal to you. What He said He will do and that’s strong enough to build your life on. He has a plan and it’s for eternal endurance and not just obtaining a few plastic trophies. There is no get rich quick scheme, no rolling the dice and getting your dream. The closest thing there is, is the day that you receive salvation. The day you got God you got rich. You became an heir of the Almighty! Now you have access to His life, light and love and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding! Joy unspeakable and full of glory fills your soul and all the fruit of the Spirit is available to you. The blessings of God far surpass all the riches of the world. If you could obtain “everything” it would still not be enough to satisfy your soul and what would you do with it when you got it? “Well I would use all that ‘stuff’ to make people happy!” Well if they are not happy with what they already have ‘more stuff’ is just going to make them ‘more unhappy’. Not that stuff in and of itself is bad, it just can’t satisfy your soul. But God is faithful and He will satisfy your soul with His goodness. I’ve noticed that often Christians get discouraged when living by lust or luck and are disappointed because it still seems that they don’t have “enough” to make them happy. The truth is they just aren’t aware of Who they have. The problem is not one of provision but of focus. If you’re “looking for love in all the wrong places” and drawing more cards hoping for aces then you’re bound to wind up in the enemy’s embraces. But God is loyal to love you with everlasting, awesome, intense and eternal love. Because He’s loyal to you He will take care of you no matter what happens in the world. He will constantly fill your heart and overflow it with His love, joy and peace when your heart is open and you’re aware to receive it. He is a God of abundance and you are abundantly His. He will satisfy you insatiable desire to have more than enough because He’s giving you Himself and He’s the ever increasing Creator.
