Ages & Eternity

My times and seasons are in Your Hand,
My now my future, each grain of sand,
The course of my life upon the sea,
And in my heart - eternity.

So I’ll eat and drink, and enjoy the good in all my labor,
This is the gift of God, and my life to savor.

To everything there is a time and a season. Life is like the ocean and living through cycles of it is like riding the waves of the sea. On the surface there are always ups and downs like the building and breaking of the waves. But in the depths there is certain stability, and likewise God has set eternity in the hearts of men. We live by faith in this environment that is always changing and yet remains the same. If we will learn to accept the cycles and seasons, and ups and downs then we will be better equipped to enjoy life and to go with the flow. And when you know that your times are in God’s Hands then you can trust that He has already made a plan to take care of you. And so He will, and so shall you rejoice and enjoy the journey. Don’t worry about the wind and the waves, He is the Master of them all. And they also add to our lives a good bit of excitement and entertainment. It’s going to be a journey over land and sea but fortunately it’s not flat for you and me. Don’t resist it, experience it - the ups and the downs, the smiles and frowns, the cheers and the tears. Because all of this contrast is what makes life so beautiful and turns ordinary days into grand adventures.

Eccl 2:24-3:13
24 Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God. 25 For who can eat, or who can have enjoyment, more than I?   26 For God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy to a man who is good in His sight; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting, that he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

1 To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

2 A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;
3 A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
4 A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
7 A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
8 A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

9 What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? 10 I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

12 I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, 13 and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor — it is the gift of God.

Rom 15:13
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
