Order!

Everyday life and things in it have to be put together. It’s like a product that comes in pieces and you have to assemble it yourself. The first thing you need to do is get together with God because He has the plans and instructions. He’s the only one who knows what it really should look like and how to assemble it. If you follow instructions and do things in order then everything seems to come together and be right. But if you think you already know how to do it then you end up with odd and “extra” parts and things don’t quite work. Then you have to go back and do it over again according to instruction and in the right order. You can do it wrong as many times as you want and but you will be frustrated because you will never feel quite right until you get it right. There’s an honor and an order to everything. So…

No Worries

Be En-Couraged! For I AM With You!

Be of good courage, take it and be infused with it because I AM with you. I AM on your side and am cheering for you. Whatever comes your way don’t dismay you can overcome because you’re more than one.


Matt 14:22-33 NIV
22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Courage will take you from shivering in fear to walking on the water if you will take it. Focus on your fears and have that sinking feeling or look to the Lord and be lifted up. You can always be encouraged if you realize that with Me “all things are possible!” and “I AM with You!”

I AM With You! – I AM Wisdom!

It’s not about what you know it’s about what the One knows who you know. God knows everything about everything and is willing to teach you. If you always knew what and how to do you would be successful wouldn’t you? But how can you know? Just ask the One Who knows and learn to listen. When you think you already know everything about something then there is no reason for God to tell you anything, But when you realize that the One who is with you has infinite wisdom then you can begin access unlimited resources. The library is still good and internet has a multitude of information but it’s still nothing compared to what God knows. All the wisdom of man is like a grain of sand on the seashore, while God’s wisdom is greater than the sea and the universe itself. So become a disciple and when you need help just ask because the One you know, knows everything you need to know so you really can go, “to infinity and beyond!”

I AM With You! – I AM Your Provider!

Have you ever gone anywhere with a provider? When you do you don’t have to worry about your needs because everything is taken care of. It’s like being on a road trip when you are a kid. When you pull up to the gas station, restaurant or hotel you don’t even think about it because you know the one in charge will see to it. All you have to do is stay on the same route and follow the Provider. He has already gone ahead and made dinner plans and reservations but I’ve noticed that they never seem to come early. If you haven’t learned to trust yet this can tend to make you nervous but the provision doesn’t come early because there is no need. Imagine trying to ride a motorcycle down the road carrying a big gas can, bed mattress, dinner plate and drinks. There’s no need now, it will be there when you need it because God said that He will see to it. All your needs will be met because “I AM With you and I AM Your Provider!”

If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior then you are a child of God and a member of His Household! God has promised to provide for His own and He will surely do it. You don’t need to understand how He will do it. Just walk with God and trust that He will do the right thing, at the right place, at the right time. Because He’s your Father, He loves you and He can handle it. Now if you choose your own way then that’s a different story. So stick with God, if you’ve wandered off you may be feeling lost and forsaken, but don’t cry, just come back and get back on track. Follow the Leader because He’s the Provider!

I AM With You! – I AM Almighty!

When the Almighty is your big brother, you know that you have protection. When you became a child of God Jesus not only became your Lord, Savior and King but also your elder brother. You are a child of the “God-Father” of the most powerful family in the universe. He made you a member of His household and one of the benefits is protection. He is always with you; watching over you day and night to make sure the enemies of the hood don’t hurt you or take advantage of you. Don’t you just love hangin out with the most awesome big brother and God Father the Almighty? You can hold up your head and be confident no matter what may come your way because, “I AM Almighty God and I AM with You!”

I AM with You! – I AM Your Peace!

Where does your peace come from heaven or earth from within or without? The low kind that comes from the outside is a cheap and shoddy substitute. If you put a little pressure on it then it breaks and you can’t put it back together again. It’s like a ‘Humpty Dumpty’ peace tottering on walls and once it falls then there’s nothing you can do except wait for the people or things around you to change. But if your source is from heaven and ‘He Himself is our Peace” (Eph 3:14) then nothing take it or shake it.

I AM With You! - Forever!

The first thing that’s needed in any relationship is security. Both parties need to know that the other is committed to the relationship weather they “feel” like it or not. Things change, - life, feelings, finances, circumstances, governments, people, places and pretty much everything. If you can see it, then it is going to change. The Bible says, “the things which are seen are temporary.” (2 Cor 4:18) With the whole world in a constant state of flux where do you get your security? If you are trusting in “the things that are seen” then you will end up disappointed and insecure. But God Himself has said,

“I am the Lord, I do not change” (Mal 3:6)

&

"I will never leave you nor forsake you." (Heb 13:5)


So since GOD IS WITH YOU FOREVER you really are safe and secure no matter what happens around you. ‘Where’ you are and ‘what’ you’re going through is not what you want to focus on because the important thing is ‘Who you’re with.’ Things have been challenging lately but I believe God is saying, “I AM With You!” As you go throughout your day and week I encourage you to take these words to heart and think about all that they mean to you personally.

A Great Calm

In an emergency you are supposed to remain “calm” and that’s assuming that you were calm to begin with. But what happens if you were already agitated and then something happened that added more reason for panic? If you are in the pressure cooker and you don’t vent you will end up blowing up. God is always there for you. So you can always “vent” and pour out your heart to Him. He will give you peace, still your fears and calm your storm. If your looking for help you probably wont find it from the people in the same boat as you but if realize that the Lord Himself is with you then you will know where to go to get what you need.

Are You “With” Him?

What does it mean to be with someone? Are you an “Item?” When you are with someone then you are by their side and on their side. You comfort and support one another. You work together and multiply each others strengths and overcome adversity. You fellowship, play and work with each other. You share everything, help each other and enjoy the others presence because you “Go Together!”

So what does it mean to you that God is “with you?” If you have received Him then He said, “I AM WITH YOU!”

I AM With You!

You are not alone, I AM with you!
I AM the great and Almighty God, and I AM with you!
I will never leave or forsake you, I AM with you!
I will keep you wherever you go, I AM with you!
I will strengthen you and help you, I AM with you!

Multiply or Simplify?

If life seems complicated and you’re feeling overwhelmed and frustrated it’s time to cut the confusion. To shave off all the excess and unwanted consider applying a type of Occam’s razor to your daily life.

I was praying about the plan for the day and thinking of all I have to do and wondering how it could all ever get done. I seem to have more to do than I can do and it‘s very frustrating. So I was praying and asking God which of the multitude of things I should start on or if I should finish some of the things that I’ve started. Then I remembered, “The simplest answer is usually the correct answer.” Right now I have five cars in my household that need maintenance or repair some major and some minor. I also have motorcycles and other yard machines that need the same. Now the problem is the garage is a complete mess. Last year I got a wild hair and decided that I would remodel the garage. We started cleaning it out but the problem was I have too much stuff and work tools and no storage sheds were available so I had to stop and build a side wing on the garage. We put a bunch of the stuff under the house in the crawl space (of which the entrance also desperately needs fixed) and now it’s a hassle when we need our “stuff”. I put most of the tools in the wing but the garage seems to collect “piles” of stuff so it’s still a big mess. I wanted drywall it, but before I can do that I have to insulate it and before I can do that I have to fix the electric and before I can do that I have to find the time and money to do it and try to motivate people to help with some of it. I also work two jobs and now have side jobs and other people who want me to help them with stuff. My desk is piled with bills and I’m also working an online business. Life is very busy with four kids and the events just keep coming so what can I do? The list goes on and on and has already gone on too far and if you are relating I’m sorry. So I find myself praying and thinking and here are some questions for you too…

What things have you multiplied without necessity?

What assumptions have I made that make no difference?

What is the simplest answer?

Are you keeping it simple?

If life is complicated it’s because we have made it so, so simplify. We can try to do everything and accomplish almost nothing or we can just get one thing done. What would happen if you just got one thing on your list done every day or every week? Some things are necessary and you can’t avoid those but what things have you “multiplied without necessity?” If you get too many multipliers then the problem will soon be out if control – you know. So the simple solution is to simplify!

Head Up!

Your brain seems to work better when your body is vertical. It’s like there’s a sensor in your head and when lay down it tells your mind it’s time to shut down. Likewise when you lift up your head everything within you prepares to head up and when you look down you prepare to go down. Many times you can tell which team is going to loose when you see their faces fall. There are all kinds of studies about this but the concept is simple, you were created to go where you look. What subconscious signals are you sending yourself? Are you getting ready for victory or defeat? So if you want things to start looking up then you will have to lift up your head. It’s a very simple and powerful way you can prepare for future success and you can start today!

You Know!

You know what to do and you will be blessed if you do it! Many people seem to get confused when it comes to following God but the process is really not difficult because you already know what to do. Stop questioning, and reasoning and arguing with God and just do what you know. You have an “inner knowing” because the one who knows everything lives inside of you. If you have received the Lord Jesus then the Spirit of the Great Shepherd is in you. Your Protector, Teacher, Comforter, Counselor, Guide and Helper is right there always within you communicating with you and when you listen then “You Know” what to do. There are many outside voices but it’s the inner knowing that you need to listen to. The reason most people get out of the will of God is not because they don’t know what to do but because they don’t want to do what they know. They can’t see how doing what they know will bring about the desired outcome so they procrastinate and try to figure out another way. Maybe the leading is not magnificent enough and many times there is no leading at all. You don’t need to be constantly carried and instructed when you already know where you are going. Another reason people fail to reach Gods desired destination is because they are impatient and in a hurry. You can’t “hurry up” God’s will you can only walk in it. Everything grows and manifests on His timetable when we follow Him weather we like it or not. If we really believe in Gods ability to lead us then the pressure is on Him and not on us and He knows what He’s doing. Contending with and understanding all the forces of the universe is too much for us so God takes care of that and simply leads us one step at a time. His instructions are not elaborate or to difficult to understand. It’s as easy as the child’s game “follow the Leader.” The challenge is just making yourself DO WHAT YOU KNOW even when you don’t understand why. You don’t need to know why. Because it’s God’s direction that’s why! If you knew all the details you couldn’t understand it anyway so why try? All you need to know is the “what” and it seems to me that most of the time that people seeking God already know what to do they just need to get on with it. When it comes to following the Shepherd if you’re one of His sheep it’s easy because it comes naturally. So what are you gonna do? You Know!

WOW!

Wow! Today my daughter is getting married and I’m doing the ceremony. She and the man of her life have maintained their honor and virtue and today is a day of victory and celebration. I want to commend them and thank God for helping us get through the whole courting process. It’s been a challenge but God’s grace has been enough. I have all the same emotions I expect a father would have on this day but there also is also a great spirit of praise in my heart. We made it! It’s been a household effort and how awesome they have been at helping us walk in God’s will and guard against compromise. Niki is truly a virtuous wife and so Caiti has watched and faithfully followed and listened to her good example. Ethan, Luke and Josh have been the brotherly watchdogs and been afflicted with much chaperoning without complaint. I myself pray that I will be as diligent with my sons as I have been with my daughter and today welcome Chance into the family as a forth son. I think there has always been a bit of tension between us as I have stood in the position of a staunch overseer of their courting and unwilling to compromise. I’m looking forward to taking off the security hat and gun and just playing the role of friend and father. I trust God will bless this union and prosper their lives as they give honor and Glory to the Almighty! So praise God and thanks to everyone who has helped us in any way to get to this day. Together and with God’s help we really can make it! WHOOOHOOO!

Bliss

The Spirit of the Lord has come to live in you and sings love songs through the window of your heart. If you listen you will hear His voice and sense Him pouring out His love. If you join Him and make it a duet then the whole world will seem like a symphony as you are enraptured by His love. Talk to Yourself!

Somebody said, “I talk to myself, because it’s good to talk to someone intelligent once in a while.” And it’s true as long as you are being smart but what happens when you are acting like a fool? You’ve probably talked yourself into some pretty dumb things before but the good news is that if you can talk yourself into them then you can also talk your way out of them. Yesterday I wrote about “encouraging yourself in the Lord” and a good way to do this is by talking to yourself. Your own words will lift you up or put you down and one of the best things you can do is tell yourself what God said about you because it’s true. When you meditate on the scriptures and talk them to yourself you release the power of life. The Word of God is full of virtue and if you will put it in your mouth and mind it will nourish and empower you. Sing, mutter, talk, rhyme or whatever form you like - Everybody talks to themselves the question is, are you blessing or cursing? You can choose what you say to yourself so don’t give yourself crap. There are enough negative people in the world but the highest authority God Almighty Himself has chosen to bless you. If you are smart you will act like him and say what He said, then you really will be talking like someone intelligent. But if you keep repeating all the bad things and reliving all your insults and injuries then you will be full of remorse and regret and acting like a forlorn fool. That will just bring you down and that’s no place to be. But if you want to be happy and encouraged then “talk to yourself” and make it good!

Encourage Yourself!

Sometimes your environment is not too encouraging. Negative people and pressures in your life can drag you down. When everything seems to be sinking you can “encourage yourself in the Lord” and buoy yourself up. God is always with you and will raise you up when you acknowledge His presence. You can read of how David “encouraged himself in the Lord” when all seemed lost.

1 Sam 30:3-6

3 So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.

4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

5 And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite.

6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.

The situation was grave. BUT DAVID ENCOURAGED HIMSELF IN THE LORD HIS GOD. Then David prayed. Sometimes you have to encourage yourself before you can even pray.

1 Sam 30:8
8 And David inquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

So after returning from one battle they went out again grieved and fatigued. The journey was so rigorous that 200 of David’s 600 men were so faint that they couldn’t even make it to the next battle. After all this when the finally reached the enemy they fought from twilight to the evening of the next day.

17 And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled.

If David had not “encouraged himself in the Lord” no one else would have and the story would have a very sad ending for him and his men. Even when you do lift yourself up and pray and obey - then you still have to endure the journey and complete the battle. You can’t give up and you can’t stop encouraging yourself. If you want to be a leader and succeed-er you will have to learn to “encourage yourself in the Lord.” Pray, obey and endure to the end. If you do this you will win the war and spoil the enemies party. You might not be able to pick yourself up by your boot strings but if you grab onto God and get a hold of His Word then He will lift you up and help you stand when everyone else is going down. Lift up your head for He is raised up and you are raised up with Him!

Be Converted?

What the heck does it mean to “be converted?” “Repent therefore and be converted…” (Acts 3:19a) This language seems so odd, “be converted.” Religion can be scary and especially when you start using archaic terms that people can’t understand. The terms are not usually the problem but some simple concepts seem to get lost because of the over spiritualization and complication of the ministers. Most preachers like to sound educated and sometimes they talk in lofty loo language. Have you ever had a teacher who was so “smart” that you could hardly understand a word they were saying? Well I don’t think God is like that even though many times “His people” seem to be. So anyway I was thinking about this term and trying not to be a “lofty loo” and wondering how I could teach what I hardly understood when the Buddy (the dog) came out. He came to me for some affection and then went and laid on the couch in peace. Needing a break from my intellectual gridlock I went and sat with the dog to give him a pet and a hug and then I understood. This dog has “been converted.” He ‘was born’ into a different environment than a coyote. If he was born in the wild he would not trust me and I’ve never hugged a coyote. They are basically the same except one has been converted. Buddy has learned that we will love and care for him and provide for all his needs. So here’s my story. I was a “bit wild” before I came to God. I was running around like a stray dog wounded and in survival mode. I ran with the pack and we got our needs met and found out that it’s a “dog eat dog world” out there. Even though dogs don’t eat dogs humans are not so kind. But one day I humbled myself and came to God. I found the one I had been avoiding actually loved me and wanted to meet all my needs. When I invited Him into my life I was born into a different environment. Now I go to Him for protection and affection and am no longer wild and fending for myself. It’s a wonderful thing to “be converted” and come to live in the household of God. I was like a spiritual orphan running the streets, but now I have been adopted because I found my family and my Heavenly Father. With all my heart I desire to love and serve Him and He has put me on a much higher level then a dog. I have been given the power, privilege and authority to become His very own Child! Do Good or Evil

It’s good to live in a country where we’re free. Thanks and honors go to all the people who have served their country to make this possible. And thank God we have been invited into His eternal kingdom and liberty. Gratitude and honor also go to His servants. When history tells of us and our time will the story be of those who served self or of those who served King and country? Some people don’t want to get involved in our country, churches and charitable organizations but everybody has the opportunity. Our politics and our ‘religion’ are not perfect so some people complain while others do something about it. The reason our country and our churches are superior even with their defects is because the main focus really is on helping others. It doesn’t seem to be to hard to find a crooked politician or a dishonest preacher but I believe the majority are still good and earnestly desiring to make an impact for good. A person who uses another persons failures and an excuse and justify their own poor conduct is really a wimpy weasel. Everyone seems to have strong opinions about these subjects but if we would exert as much energy to help people as we do to run our mouths then the world would be changed for the better. If you’re cynical about this that’s exactly the problem, people who can’t see the good in others find it hard to do any good themselves. The way to overcome evil is not to magnify it but to do good, and even to those who aren’t good to us.

Days of Heaven on Earth?

Eccl 3:1-8
To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

A time to plant,

What time is it? Knowing the season helps you prepare for the future. Enjoy today because you only get to live it once. Relish the present while you prepare you for the future. Walking with God is an adventure. He will lead you into the unknown. You can discover something new everyday because God reveals Himself and His awesome majesty to those who seek Him. Some things stay the same but everything is better with God. He enhances life with joy and peace and enriches it with His love. Whatever time or season you are I believe God wants you to experience and enjoy and not just endure and exist. Even in the bad times you don’t take pleasure in the pressing but in your ever present God who is greater than the pressure. He has promised to be with always you so you can rejoice everyday no matter what may come your way because the One who makes heaven heavenly is the same One who lives in you!

Chosen!

Have you ever been in a situation when you weren’t the first one picked? It can hurt your heart when you know someone else thinks someone else is better than you. And it is true at times, others are better at some things; more athletic or extra qualified for a job or better for another in a relationship or whatever. But there’s no one better for God than you. The Bible says that “He chose us” and that includes you, “before the foundation of the world.” (Eph 1:4) God does not play favorites. He created you the way He wanted to and He loves you the way made you.

Jer 1:5a
"Before I shaped you in the womb,
I knew all about you.
Before you saw the light of day,
I had holy plans for you:

God did not wait to see how you turned out and then see if He wanted you. Instead He created you and chose you before you ever saw the light of day. You came into the world pre-blessed and with a unique place in Gods plan and family that only you can fill. There is no substitute; you are one of a kind with your own special place in God’s heart chosen by Him and for Him before the foundation of the world.
