What’s in your Bucket?

Why Don’t You Do What You Wanna Do? The Lord seems to be asking me this question lately and so I’ve been thinking about it and working on getting an understanding of what He’s really asking. I know He’s not talking about fulfilling the lust of the flesh but the good dreams and desires that are in my heart.

It seems like many people never really do what they wanna to do but just go through life thinking “someday” they will but for now the demands of life, fear of failure and excuses prevail. “Life is busy”, “I have to work”, “I don’t have the money”, “I’m out of shape”, “I’ll do it later”, “I’ll be rejected” etc... Make a schedule, take the time, get the money, get in shape, reconcile the relationships and do it. If you don’t at least began to take steps to go the direction the Lord is leading you then you’ll never get there. “Yea, but I’ve tried and failed!” Good for you! Now it’s time to learn from and become the master of your mistakes because if you don’t they may master you. Don’t stay down on the ground whining and nursing your woes and get up and go again. The difference between chumps and champions is often only attitude. You’ll never achieve excellence without a few bruises on your backside. You’ll probably get your butt kicked before you learn to kick butt, but if you don’t quit you won’t lose! You need to get active and bold before you get too old. Life is short and before you know it you’ll be looking back on most of it. So what do you have to look forward to and what are you gonna do? And when you do end up kicking the bucket will be empty because of procrastination and the fear of failure? Or will it be full of what God has revealed and dreams and desires fulfilled?

Ps 37:3-5
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.

James 1:25
25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
