Don’t Just Give – Forgive!
God loved you so much He gave His Son. But He didn’t only give He also forgave. The good news is that you are forgiven. He’s not holding your wrongs against you. It feels good to be forgiven and if you receive Him and this great gift then you should also give it. Harboring unforgiveness is like eating poison and you need to get it out of your system once and for all. “Yea but what they did was so wrong!” Exactly, that’s why you need to forgive, if what they did was right there would be no need for forgiveness. When you forgive you release the offender into God’s hands and He sets you free from the residue of the hurt and shame. You’re black and blue when you’re livid but choosing to forgive and love makes you bright and vivid. Every time you remember and review “the evil event” it’s like putting some arsenic in your tea. Unforgiveness - a self inflicted curse - rehearse and you’ll end up needing a nurse or in a hearse. So don’t just give but forgive, for forgivers are the happy ones and real life live-ers! “And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” (Acts 20:35) And forgiveness is even greater than giving!
Matt 6:9-15
9 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
14 "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
NKJV
Mark 11:25-26
25 "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses."
NKJV
Luke 17:1-4
17 Then He said to the disciples, "It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. 3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, 'I repent,' you shall forgive him."
NKJV
John 20:23
23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."
NKJV
PIE90 Scripture:
Luke 23:32-34
32 There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death. 33 And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. 34 Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."
NKJV
