“Baby steps Bob!” If you’ve seen the movie, “What About Bob” then you know what I’m talking about. If not then it’s a comedy about an obsessive compulsive man, Bob. His “therapist” helps him by getting him to take baby steps. It’s a comedy of errors but with a good point. You may not be able to take one giant step but you can always take a bunch of baby steps and still get where you’re going.
The Bible says that God will “order you steps” and drive out the enemy “little by little.” That sounds like baby steps to me. If you keep trying to take flying leaps and crashing then eventually you’ll get discouraged and quit. But if you just do a little everyday and keep on doing it then you will grow and increase and inherit the land. If you do too much at once you won’t be able to maintain you gain. But if you do it “little by little” you will be established and able to increase more and more.
Jer 10:23
NKJV - O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself;
It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.
AMP - …the way of a man is not in himself; it is not in man [even in a strong man or in a man at his best] to direct his [own] steps.
Ps 37:23
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.
NKJV
Ex 23:30
Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased, and you inherit the land.
NKJV
Ps 112:1-8
1 Praise the Lord!
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who delights greatly in His commandments.
2 His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches will be in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.
4 Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness;
He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
5 A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs with discretion.
6 Surely he will never be shaken;
The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.
7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
8 His heart is established;
He will not be afraid,
Until he sees his desire upon his enemies.
NKJV
Ps 115:14-15
14 The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.
15 Ye are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth.
