Talk to Yourself!

Somebody said, “I talk to myself, because it’s good to talk to someone intelligent once in a while.” And it’s true as long as you are being smart but what happens when you are acting like a fool? You’ve probably talked yourself into some pretty dumb things before but the good news is that if you can talk yourself into them then you can also talk your way out of them. Yesterday I wrote about “encouraging yourself in the Lord” and a good way to do this is by talking to yourself. Your own words will lift you up or put you down and one of the best things you can do is tell yourself what God said about you because it’s true. When you meditate on the scriptures and talk them to yourself you release the power of life. The Word of God is full of virtue and if you will put it in your mouth and mind it will nourish and empower you. Sing, mutter, talk, rhyme or whatever form you like - Everybody talks to themselves the question is, are you blessing or cursing? You can choose what you say to yourself so don’t give yourself crap. There are enough negative people in the world but the highest authority God Almighty Himself has chosen to bless you. If you are smart you will act like him and say what He said, then you really will be talking like someone intelligent. But if you keep repeating all the bad things and reliving all your insults and injuries then you will be full of remorse and regret and acting like a forlorn fool. That will just bring you down and that’s no place to be. But if you want to be happy and encouraged then “talk to yourself” and make it good!

Eph 5:8-20 KJV (Caps. added)

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and TRUTH;)

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

For it is a shame even to SPEAK of those things which are done of them in secret.

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT;

SPEAKING TO YOURSELVES in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
